workshop description
everyone wants to make work that matters to them and has value in society. consider this a tiny time investment in doing just that – making something small and fast that will awaken, encourage, inform, or otherwise move the needle on an issue you are passionate about. a brief introduction to graphic activism, street art, and guerrilla advertising will whet our appetite for the possibilities, alongside useful techniques in visual rhetoric, language and modes of appeal. we'll consider provocative and succinct messages, facts, and quotes, then determine unique and effective contexts for placing those messages. rapid-fire analog making will then ensue with the help of our trusty pal, the photocopier! take-aways will either be micro-proposals to be done later or d.i.y. pieces that can be immediately deployed. what will you make that makes a difference?
